Microneedling
SkinPen®
SkinPen® is a microneedling device that helps to improve your skins appearance by utilizing the body’s healing response. SkinPen works by creating a series of hundreds of microscopic channels into the dermis to stimulate the skin’s natural production of new collagen and elastin, helping skin to look and feel healthier. SkinPen® is a minimally invasive procedure performed in-office with little downtime. Microneedling is safe for all skin types and effective on multiple body parts, such as face, neck and décolletage.
SkinPen® procedures are beneficial to assist in reducing the signs of aging, improving the appearance of stretch marks, acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, and improve skin tone and texture. The ideal SkinPen® candidate is anyone of any age and skin type who has stretch marks, acne scarring, rough texture, fine lines and wrinkles, loss of collagen, and discolored skin that desires improvement!
What to Expect
After a SkinPen® procedure, most patients should expect redness (like a mild sunburn) for 8-24 hours. One should avoid sun exposure for 48 hours after your procedure. Total healing time depends on each individual patient; however, most are healed within two to four days. Post-procedure skin care protocol is suggested for optimal results.
Chemical Peels
A chemical peel uses a chemical solution to improve the texture and tone of your skin by removing the damaged outer layers in a controlled fashion. Chemical peels can be a different depths including light, medium, and deep. Depending on the solution used a chemical peel is a very cost effective way to treat acne or acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, Irregular skin pigmentation, rough skin and scaly patches, certain scars, and sun-damaged skin.
Your healthcare provider will determine the type of solution to be used based on the results and skin conditions necessary to treat. Most peels can be performed in the medical office without sedation but deeper peels may require sedation.
What to Expect
Depending on the depth of the peel, recovery will vary but most patients can expect some erythema and mild peeling of the skin. Often patients should avoid sun exposure until they are fully healed due to photosensitivity.
