Well, the answer to this question is nothing but put a spotlight on skin and facial imperfections that we all have.  “Zoom” and other video platforms are now becoming the norm for not only business communication and employment but also industries such as medicine with increasing use of tele-medicine.  I don’t know about you but looking at myself through these platforms has given me a new perspective on my appearance and how I animate while talking to others.

Some things to consider for improving these imperfections.  Firstly, a healthy diet, exercise, good night sleep and a lot of water are vital.  Well, if you are like me, this Covid pandemic, stress, and just life in general has gotten in the way of the first step so let’s talk about other “fixes”.  If you are concerned about the short-term recovery that is required by these procedures remember one word- MASK- we all are wearing them.

Skin care regimen

We all should have a good skin care regimen.  Depending on your skin sensitivity, starting with a few products such as:

  • retin- A to help with fine lines and pigment changes
  • eye cream for those lines, dark circles and puffiness
  • sunscreen that is light but at least 30 SPF to be used daily (even in the car driving you can get UV damage)
  • moisturizer especially during the winter months

We have a great line of dermatologic grade products that we can recommend for your needs and goals.

Botox injections

Botulinum toxin helps relax muscles in the face especially in the forehead and around the eyes.  By relaxing these muscles, there are less obvious lines with animation and can assist with decreasing long-term aging effects of continued overuse of these muscles.  Allow yourself a more softened and relaxed expression when responding and reacting to others during those “Zoom” meetings.

Fillers

Fillers which often contain hyaluronic acid (a natural substance in your body) provide an option to replenish fullness to areas of the face that have lost volume with aging or weight loss.  Often the fillers are placed in the cheek and lips to restore volume and fullness and in smile lines to decrease their depth and soften their appearance.  Fillers are now made to last longer with some lasting up to 2 years providing a more cost-effective option than surgery for the aging face.

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel uses a chemical solution to improve the texture and tone of your skin by removing the damaged outer layers in a controlled fashion.  Chemical peels can be at different depths including light, medium, and deep.  Depending on the solution used a chemical peel is a very cost effective way to treat acne or acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, Irregular skin pigmentation, rough skin and scaly patches, certain scars, and sun-damaged skin.  With the peels offered at our office there is minimal down time.

Microneedling

Microneedling helps to improve your skin’s appearance by utilizing the body’s healing response by creating a series of hundreds of microscopic channels into the dermis to stimulate the skin’s natural production of new collagen and elastin, helping skin to look and feel healthier. Microneedling is safe for all skin types and effective on multiple body parts, such as face, neck and décolletage. Microneedling is beneficial to assist in reducing the signs of aging, improving the appearance of stretch marks, acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, and improve skin tone and texture.
